Samsung Announces Galaxy S23 Ultra with 200MP Primary Camera and Built-in Stylus Pen

Samsung just announced the S23 series which comprises the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23. The S23 Ultra is the most expensive of the bunch but also the most feature-rich among the trio.

Unlike the S23 and S23 Plus that has seen a design change, especially at the back, the S23 Ultra looks similar to its predecessor – S22 Ultra. It features a boxy design flat design with its rear camera standing alone and a gold-plated ring around them.

It comes with an in-built stylus pen with lower latency compared to the S22 Ultra and also more features integrated into it.

The S23 Ultra’s display quality is pretty much the same as that of the S22 Ultra at least on paper, with a little bit bump up in its brightness.

Samsung S23 Ultra features a 6.8 inches LTPO Dynamic AMOLED display with QHD+ (3088 x 1440 pixels) screen resolution, 500 PPI pixel density, and 120Hz adaptive high refresh rate.

Unlike the S23 and S23 Plus high refresh rate display that only goes between 48Hz and 120Hz, the one on the S23 Ultra is capable of going as low as 1Hz when there is nothing much going on, on the screen and up to 120Hz when you are like gaming.

Like its younger siblings in the series, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s display and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 which is better than the previous generation for shatter and scratch resistance.

Samsung S23 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and runs on One UI 5.1 based on Android 13 out of the box.

It is packed with a 5000 mAh battery capacity and supports up to 45 watts of wired fast charging and 10 watts of wireless charging. It is equipped with 8GB and 12GB RAM options as well as 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB internal storage options.

There is no SD card slot which means there is no way to expand the internal storage. It also does not support FM radio and does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

It is equipped with an Ultrasonic Fingerprint and Face Unlock biometric security measures.

In the photography department, it features a 200MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, Laser Autofocus, and OIS. The Ultrawide is the same 12MP as the S22 Ultra and is the 10MP telephoto and periscope telephoto camera.

Its 12MP selfie camera is also new. Even though it is a downgrade in megapixels from 40MP on the S22 Ultra, it is a better camera system overall than that of its predecessor.

The Samsung S23 Ultra is available in Cream, Green, Lavender, and Black colors. It will also be available in Nigeria before the end of February.
