  • Samsung A34 5G gas Gorilla Glass 5 Protection on its display while the A14 do not
  • There is no high refresh rate on the Galaxy A14 while the A34 5G has a 120Hz high refresh rate
  • Samsung A14 has a resolution of 2408 x 1080 pixels compared to A34 5G’s 2340 x 1080 pixels
  • The Galaxy A14 weighs 201 grams while Samsung A34 5G weighs 199 grams

Samsung A14 and A34 5G have some similarities but there are also differences between them as regards design and display. So, let’s explore them.

Both smartphones have large 6.6-inch screen sizes but the A34 5G utilizes Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on its display as protection which is absent on the A14.

They also feature plastic side and back materials, providing durability and a lightweight feel.

Samsung A34 5G boasts of a Super AMOLED display which offers deeper blacks and vibrant colors compared to the A14’s PLS LCD display.

Additionally, the A34 5G incorporates a high refresh rate of 120Hz, delivering smoother scrolling and more fluid animations, while the A14 comes with the traditional 60Hz refresh rate.

On paper, the A14 offers a slightly higher resolution of 2408 x 1080 pixels and 400 PPI pixel density compared to the A34 5G’s 2340 x 1080 pixels and 393 PPI pixel density but in day-t usage, I did not notice any advantage.

Samsung A14 is slightly taller and heavier than the A34 5G which makes it harder to use with one hand and for a long period. The Galaxy A34 5G is thinner and that makes it a more sleek and compact option.

The Samsung A34 5G is rated with an IP67 water resistance certification which provides protection against dust and allows it to be submerged in water of a depth of up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. The Galaxy A14 does not have this protection.

Summary: Samsung A14 and Samsung A34 5G share similar screen sizes. The Galaxy A34 5G offers some advantages such as a Super AMOLED display, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display, a higher refresh rate, and water resistance.

Samsung A14 has a slightly higher screen resolution and pixel density which does not translate to an advantage in real-life usage.

Samsung A14 and Samsung A34 5G both run on Android 13, the latest version of Android OS.

However, there is a difference in the versions of One UI they are running on. Samsung A14 runs on One UI Core 5.1 while Samsung A34 5G runs on One UI 5.1 which is a more advanced and feature-rich version of One UI.

Samsung A14 is powered by an 8nm, Exynos 850 chipset, which has an octa-core processor with 8 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

On the other hand, Samsung A34 5G is powered by a more advanced 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, which also has an octa-core processor but with 2 Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz.

Samsung A14 has a Mali-G52 GPU compared to the A34 5G’s more powerful Mali-G68 MC4.

Galaxy A14 is available in two RAM variants: 4GB and 6GB. On the other hand, the Samsung A34 5G offers higher RAM options, with 6GB and 8GB configurations.

This means that the A34 5G provides more memory for multitasking and running demanding applications, resulting in a smoother and more efficient user experience compared to the A14.

As for internal storage, the A14 offers two options which are 64GB and 128GB compared to the Samsung A34 5G which provides larger storage capacities of 128GB and 256GB.

Summary: In terms of memory, the A34 5G has an advantage with higher RAM options which provides better performance and multitasking capabilities.

The A34 5G also offers larger capacities, giving you more room to store your files and media.

However, the A14’s dedicated microSD card slot may be preferred if you prioritize expandable storage without compromising the use of a second SIM card.

3.) Camera

  • Samsung A34 5G has a wider aperture for the front camera compared to Samsung A14
  • Samsung A34 5G has better front camera video recording capabilities with 4K support.

At the rear, Galaxy A14 boasts of a 50MP main camera accompanied by an aperture of f/1.8 compared to the A34 5G which features a 48MP main camera with OIS which is an advantage over the A14 because OIS helps to enhance image stability and reduce blur.

When it comes to ultrawide photography, the A34 5G takes the lead with a better 8 MP ultrawide lens compared to A14’s 5 MP ultrawide lens. Though, both devices lack a dedicated telephoto lens for optical zoom capabilities.

Both devices have a macro lens which allows their users to capture close-up shots with intricate details.

Regarding video recording capabilities, Samsung A34 5G outshines the Galaxy A14 as it supports 4K video recording at 30fps along with 1080P at 30fps and 720P at 480fps for slow-mo videos compared to the Samsung A14 which only supports 1080P video recording at 30fps.

It is not hard to say that the Samsung A34 5G is the better smartphone for photography between these two.
