Comparison and Differences Between Samsung Galaxy A24 and Samsung Galaxy A54 5G

1.) Design and Display

  • Samsung A54 5G has a higher refresh rate of 120Hz compared to Galaxy A24’s 90Hz
  • Samsung A54 5G has a slightly higher pixel density of 403 PPI compared to A24’s 396 PPI
  • Samsung A24 is lighter weighing 195 grams compared to Galaxy A54 5G’s 202 grams
  • Samsung A24 is taller and wider but Samsung A54 5G is thinner
  • Samsung A24 has a plastic back while Samsung A54 5G uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for the back
  • Samsung A54 5G is water-resistant with an IP67 rating, but Samsung A24 is not

Protecting the display of both smartphones is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 providing durability and scratch resistance. Both devices also have a plastic frame.

However, the back material differs with the A24 using plastic while the A54 5G incorporates Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Samsung A54 5G holds an advantage in terms of dust and water resistance with an IP67 rating. A feature that is absent on the Galaxy A24.

Samsung A54 5G and A24 4G run on One UI 5.1 based on Android 13 out of the box. These are the latest versions that ensure a modern and up-to-date software experience.

Samsung A24 is powered by a 6nm Mediatek MT8781 Helio G99 processor featuring an octa-core CPU configuration with 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 cores and 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores.

On the other hand, the Samsung A54 5G sports a 5nm Exynos 1380 processor with an octa-core CPU configuration. It consists of 2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 cores and 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores.

The 5nm architecture of the Exynos 1380 offers improved power efficiency and performance compared to the 6nm Helio G99.

The Samsung A24 is equipped with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU while the Galaxy A54 5G features a Mali-G68 MP5 GPU.

The Mali-G68 MP5 in the A54 5G provides enhanced graphics rendering capabilities which can result in better gaming and visual experiences compared to the Mali-G57 MC2 found in the A24.

Both smartphones provide sufficient memory for multitasking and smooth app performance.

Both smartphones are equipped with a 5000 mAh battery with support for 25 watts fast charging support. Both devices take about 1 hour and 20 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%.

On heavy usage, I usually get almost a day of usage on a single charge and I easily get almost 2 days of usage on average usage.

Summary: While Samsung A24 and A54 currently run on the same One UI 5.1 based on Android 13, they differ in terms of processor, GPU, memory, and memory options.

Samsung A54 5G outperforms the A24 with its more advanced 5nm Exynos 1380 processor and Mali-G68 MP5 GPU which provides better performance and graphics capabilities.

The Galaxy A54 5G also offers larger internal storage options of 128GB and 256GB.

However, the A24 provides a wider range of RAM options including 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB, a dedicated SD card slot that offers greater flexibility for storage expansion.

Both smartphones are equipped with a 50 MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.8 and OIS which allows you to take amazing photos and shoot great videos on both devices.

However as you might expect, the Galaxy A54 5G primary camera provides better results in most occasions and does a better job in low-light conditions.

Samsung A24 sports a 5 MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.2 while the Galaxy A54 5G takes it up a notch with a 12 MP ultrawide camera also with an aperture of f/2.2. The A54 5G has a better Ultrawide camera than the A24.

When it comes to macro photography, the Samsung A24 incorporates a 2 MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.4 while the Galaxy A54 5G steps it up with a 5 MP macro camera with the same aperture. The macro cameras on both devices are more or less unusable.

Samsung A24 supports 1080P video recording @30fps while the Galaxy A54 5G offers more flexibility with the ability to record videos in 4K at 30fps, as well as in 1080P at 30/60fps and 720P at 480fps.

The A54 5G’s video recording capabilities are more advanced and versatile allowing for higher-resolution videos and slow-motion footage.

Samsung A24 is equipped with a 13 MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.2 enabling decent-quality selfies and video calls.

On the other hand, the Samsung A54 5G comes with a more impressive 32 MP front camera with the same aperture for higher-resolution selfies with more details.

In terms of video recording on the front camera, the Galaxy A24 and A54 5G both support 1080P recording at 30fps.

However, the A54 5G offers the additional capability of recording videos in 4K resolution at 30fps.

It offers a better main and ultrawide rear camera as well as advanced video recording options including 4K recording and slow-mo videos.

The A54 5G also provides a significantly better front camera for capturing more detailed selfies.

If camera performance is a priority for you, the Samsung A54 5G would be the better choice between these two smartphones.

Both Samsung A24 and A54 5G feature Accelerometer, Proximity, Compass, and Gyroscope sensors.

Both devices provide secure and convenient unlocking capabilities with Samsung A24 featuring a side-mounted fingerprint sensor while the Galaxy A54 5G uses an under-display optical fingerprint sensor.

Samsung A54 5G offers up to WiFi 6 making it the first Samsung mid-range smartphone to support it.
